uBu box (defined)

is meant as a daily reminder of our individuality and to celebrate that. We should all go out into the world with a reminder that each of us is special. Imbue your uBu box with those reminders, hints, talismans whether they are just for the day or forever. We hope you keep those doors open and have a grin every time you walk by. Regardless of how you choose to curate your uBu-box it is after all for you to be you!

The project started out as a portable butsudan but we decided to change/expand its usefulness. Common perceptions of a butsudan seem to revolve around times/people gone by. It can function as a butsudan (buddhist) or kamidana (zen) but we also wanted to have it be a personal vessel/vehicle to help navigate our daily life.

While Obutsudans are a traditional place to honor one’s ancestors, loved ones, and family members, the uBu box is more of a daily, here and now, mindfulness place. A personalized, living space where the needs of the moment can be captured by reminders, figurines, notes, photos, or any kind of personal memento.
